How to take Rybelsus
Rybelsus is taken on an empty stomach in the morning with no more than 4 ounces of water. Wait at least 30 minutes before food, other drinks or other oral medicines. Swallow the tablet whole. Taking it with breakfast would not follow these instructions.

Starting and continuing treatment differ
The 3 mg tablet is the labeled initiation dose and is not effective for glucose control; the continuing regimen uses the prescribed maintenance strength. Ozempic tablets use a separate 1.5/4/9-mg series. Switching requires the label’s specific instructions and a clinician’s plan, not arithmetic between strengths.

Safety and contraindications
The label has a thyroid C-cell tumor boxed warning based on animal findings, with human relevance unknown, and contraindications for personal or family medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2. Pancreatitis, gastrointestinal effects, dehydration-related kidney injury, gallbladder disease and retinopathy concerns also warrant discussion.

Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets
The product name matters: Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets contain different semaglutide strengths. Check the name on the prescription and pack. Their shared prescribing-information document includes specific switching instructions; taking both or changing between them requires the prescriber’s advice.
