SEMAGLUTIDE PROVIDER COMPARISON

Generic Ozempic & Semaglutide Online: Prices, Providers & Availability

Compare current semaglutide listings from online pharmacy providers, including prices, prescription requirements and product information.

Researching “generic Ozempic” requires establishing the exact medicine, manufacturer and regulatory authorization for the product being supplied. Canada has authorized generic semaglutide products referencing Ozempic, but that does not identify or validate every online listing using the phrase “Generic Ozempic”. If you want Novo Nordisk’s branded product, see our branded Ozempic provider comparison for US customers.

Quick Tip: Ask for the exact product name, manufacturer, strength/form, quantity, country of origin and authorization identifier before comparing prices. The same active ingredient does not make every listing the same product.

What Does “Generic Ozempic” Mean?

Ozempic® is Novo Nordisk’s brand name; semaglutide is its active ingredient. People have sometimes used “generic Ozempic” loosely for non-Ozempic semaglutide products. In Canada, the phrase can now also refer to an actual authorized generic referencing Ozempic. Those two uses should not be confused.

A merchant’s product title alone does not establish which category applies. Ask for the exact medicine name, manufacturer, dosage form, strength, authorization identifier, country of origin and dispensing pharmacy. If Canadian authorization is claimed, check the specific product against Health Canada’s records rather than relying on the word “generic”.

Canada’s 2026 Generic Semaglutide Approval

On 28 April 2026, Health Canada announced that it had authorized its first generic semaglutide injection, submitted by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and referencing Ozempic. The announcement described Canada as the first G7 country to authorize a generic semaglutide product. See the official Health Canada announcement.

The Drug Product Database record for one authorized presentation identifies Semaglutide Injection, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., DIN 02567806. This is an example of a specific authorization, not evidence that either merchant above supplies that product. Canadian approval also does not establish US FDA approval.

Authorization is not the only check: Health Canada has also published a 2026 recall notice for specified Dr. Reddy’s Semaglutide Injection products and lots. Check current notices against the actual product and batch. We have not established that either merchant listing supplies a product covered by that notice.

Branded, Authorized Generic, Other and Compounded Semaglutide

  • Branded Ozempic: Novo Nordisk’s branded semaglutide medicine, with its own product information and presentations.
  • Authorized generic semaglutide: A particular regulator-authorized generic referencing a branded medicine. The authorization applies to that identified product and jurisdiction, not to every item using similar wording.
  • Other semaglutide products: Identity, indication, formulation and regulatory status depend on the product and market. “Semaglutide” alone is not a complete product description.
  • Compounded semaglutide: A separate category. Compounded drugs are not FDA approved and should not be presented as FDA-approved generic Ozempic.

The FDA explains the distinction in its information on unapproved and compounded GLP-1 medicines. Ask the prescriber or pharmacist to assess the proposed product; do not assume treatment equivalence from shared ingredient terminology.

How to Check a Generic Semaglutide Listing

Request a product name and manufacturer that can be matched to official authorization information. For a Canadian product, ask for its Drug Identification Number (DIN) and current product monograph. Confirm that the strength, form and presentation match the product being supplied, then establish the dispensing source and country of origin. Neither a Canadian service address nor a pre-filled pen description proves a particular authorization.

We could not confidently establish a manufacturer-and-authorization match for either listed selection from the public material reviewed. This is an unresolved product-identity question, not a conclusion that the product is authorized or unauthorized. Obtain confirmation for the actual order before relying on an approval claim.

Why Generic Semaglutide Prices Differ

The observed $179.99 BFH listing and $189.99-per-pen CDI listing do not establish a like-for-like price comparison. Product identity, manufacturer, strength/form, pack quantity, origin and stock can differ. Add shipping and any consultation or fulfilment charge before comparing final totals. A lower displayed amount is not evidence that one provider is categorically cheaper.

For branded pricing context, see our US Ozempic cost guide. Its figures should not be treated as prices for the separate semaglutide products on this page.

Prescriptions and Proposed Product Changes

Both listings require a valid prescription. Confirm the documents needed and whether the prescriber has specified a particular product, strength or presentation. Consultation pathways, where available, do not guarantee prescribing. Discuss a proposed change between branded, generic or other semaglutide products with the prescriber or pharmacist; price alone should not determine a substitution.

US Customers and Cross-Border Access

Provider location, medication origin and delivery destination are separate facts. Confirm eligibility for your address and the current prescription and dispensing arrangements. Canadian authorization does not confer FDA approval, and a provider accepting an order does not guarantee legal importation. The FDA’s personal importation guidance explains the restrictions applying to medicines obtained abroad.

For service comparisons beyond these product listings, see our Canadian pharmacies comparison for US customers. Our Canadian pharmacy shipping comparison covers delivery questions in more detail.

Shipping, Storage and Delivery Handling

Confirm the exact product’s manufacturer storage instructions, packaging, shipping method and transit estimate. Do not assume that every semaglutide presentation has identical handling requirements or that every order uses the same shipping option. Ask how the provider manages delays and suspected handling breaches, and contact the pharmacist if a shipment appears to have arrived outside its stated conditions.

Canadian Insulin’s current GLP-1 pen shipping information includes express cold-packed shipping at $39.99, but charges and suitability depend on the product, destination and order terms. Confirm the appropriate arrangement and final charge before paying.

How We Evaluate Online Pharmacies

Providers are reviewed against MediSearcher’s provider evaluation criteria. For this comparison, relevant checks include the exact listing, product-identity information, prescription process, manufacturer and origin transparency, regulatory information, displayed price, total cost, delivery eligibility and pharmacist support. Merchant descriptions establish what is advertised; they are not independent regulatory verification.

This is not a scored ranking or an endorsement. Unresolved product details are identified rather than inferred. Commercial relationships do not determine inclusion or evaluation. For broader context, use our online pharmacy comparison hub or diabetes pharmacy comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a generic version of Ozempic?

Canada authorized its first generic semaglutide injection referencing Ozempic on 28 April 2026. That establishes a specific Canadian authorization, not the identity or approval status of every online listing called “generic Ozempic”.

Is generic semaglutide the same as branded Ozempic?

An authorized generic has a defined regulatory relationship to a reference medicine. But a merchant’s use of “generic” does not identify the product or establish its status. Confirm the manufacturer, authorization, strength/form and presentation with the provider and pharmacist.

Does Canadian approval mean FDA approval in the US?

No. Health Canada and the FDA make separate authorization decisions. Canadian approval does not establish FDA approval or guarantee that a particular cross-border order may be imported into the US.

How much does generic Ozempic or semaglutide cost online?

On 2 November 2026, BFH displayed $179.99 and CDI displayed $189.99 per pen for their separate listings. Prices may change, and the products are not established as identical. Confirm the exact selection, quantity, shipping and final order total.

Do I need a prescription, and can US customers order?

Both listings require a prescription. US delivery depends on the product, destination, prescription review and applicable import requirements. A consultation or accepted order does not guarantee prescribing, stock or lawful importation.

Is compounded semaglutide an approved generic Ozempic product?

No. Compounded semaglutide is a separate category and should not be described as an FDA-approved generic Ozempic product. Regulatory status and suitability must be assessed for the actual medicine, not inferred from the active ingredient alone.
